Movie Premiere:
Eat Pray Love

Liz Gilbert had everything a modern woman is supposed to dream of having –
a husband, a house, a successful career — yet like so many others, she found herself lost, confused, and searching for what she really wanted in life. Newly divorced and at a crossroads, Gilbert steps out of her comfort zone, risking everything to change her life, embarking on a journey around the world that becomes a quest for self-discovery. In her travels, she discovers the true pleasure of nourishment by eating in Italy; the power of prayer in India, and, finally and unexpectedly, the inner peace and balance of true love in Bali.
The Expendables

A group of mercenaries is hired to infiltrate a South American country and overthrow its ruthless dictator. Once the mission begins, the men realize things aren’t quite as they appear, finding themselves caught in a dangerous web of deceit and betrayal. With their mission thwarted and an innocent life in danger, the men struggle with an even tougher challenge — one that threatens to destroy this band of brothers. Barney Ross is a man with nothing to lose. Fearless and void of emotion, he is the leader, the sage and the strategist of this tight-knit band of men who live on the fringe. His only attachment is to his pickup truck, his seaplane and his team of loyal modern-day warriors. His is a true cynic who describes what he does as ¿removing those hard to get at stains.¿ The team behind him is made up of Lee Christmas, former SAS and a savant with anything that has a blade; Yin Yang, a master at close-quarter combat; Hale Caesar, who has known Barney for ten years and is a long-barrel weapons specialist; Toll Road, a skilled demolitions expert and considered the intellect of the group; and Gunnar Jensen, a combat veteran and an expert in precision sniping who struggles with his own demons. When the mysterious Church offers Barney a job no one else would take, Barney and his team embark on what appears to be a routine mission: overthrow General Gaza, the murderous dictator of the small island country of Vilena and end the years of death and destruction inflicted on its people. On a reconnaissance mission to Vilena, Barney and Christmas meet their contact Sandra, a local freedom-fighter with a dark secret. They also come to learn who their true enemy is: rogue ex-CIA operative James Monroe and his henchman Paine. When things go terribly wrong, Barney and Christmas are forced to leave Sandra behind, essentially giving her a death sentence. Haunted by this failure, Barney convinces the team to return to Vilena to rescue the hostage and finish the job he started. And to perhaps save a soul: his own.
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World

Scott Pilgrim has never had a problem getting a girlfriend. It’s getting rid of them that proves difficult. From the girl who kicked his heart’s ass — and now is back in town — to the teenage distraction he’s trying to shake when Ramona rollerblades into his world, love hasn’t been easy. He soon discovers, however, his new crush has the most unusual baggage of all: a nefarious league of exes controls her love life and will do whatever it takes to eliminate him as a suitor.
As Scott gets closer to Ramona, he must face an increasingly vicious rogues’ gallery from her past — from infamous skateboarders to vegan rock stars and fearsome identical twins. And if he hopes to win his true love, he must vanquish them all before it really is game over.

Free Movies: Monsters vs. Aliens

Pier 46
When a meteorite from outer space hits a young California woman named Susan Murphy and turns her into a giant monster, she is taken to a secret government compound where she meets a ragtag group of monsters also rounded up over the years. As a last resort, under the guidance of General W.R. Monger, on a desperate order from The President, the motley crew of Monsters is called into action to combat the aliens and save the world from imminent destruction!
Movie Premieres:
Dinner for Schmucks

Tim, is an up-and-coming executive who has just received his first invitation to the “dinner for idiots,” a monthly event hosted by his boss that promises bragging rights to the exec that shows up with the biggest buffoon. Tim’s fiancee, Julie, finds it distasteful and Tim agrees to skip the dinner, until he bumps into Barry–an IRS employee who devotes his spare time to building elaborate taxidermy mouse dioramas–and quickly realizes he’s struck idiot gold. Tim can’t resist, and invites Barry, whose blundering good intentions soon sends Tim’s life into a frenzied downward spiral and a series of misadventures, threatening a major business deal, bringing crazy stalker ex-girlfriend, Darla, back into Tim’s life and driving Julie into the arms of another man.
Twelve

Kyle Kingson has it all – looks, intelligence, wealth and opportunity – and a wicked cruel streak. Prone to mocking and humiliating “aggressively unattractive” classmates, he zeroes in on Goth classmate Kendra, inviting her to the school’s extravagant environmental bash. Kendra accepts, and, true to form, Kyle blows her off in a particularly savage fashion. She retaliates by casting a spell that physically transforms him into everything he despises. Enraged by his horrible and unrecognizable appearance he confronts Kendra and learns that the only solution to the curse is to find someone that will love him as he is – a task he considers impossible. Repulsed by his appearance, Kyle’s callous father banishes him to Brooklyn with a sympathetic housekeeper and blind tutor. As Kyle ponders how to overcome the curse and get his old life back, he chances upon a drug addict in the act of killing a threatening dealer. Seizing the opportunity, Kyle promises the addict freedom and safety for his daughter, Lindy if she will consent to live in Kyle’s Brooklyn home. Thus begins Kyle’s journey to discover true love in this hyper-modern retelling of the classic Beauty and the Beast” story.

Aspiring actress Eve Harrington maneuvers her way into the lives of Broadway star Margo Channing, playwright Lloyd Richards and director Bill Sampson. This classic story of ambition and betrayal has become part of American folklore. Bette Davis claims to have based her character on the persona of film actress Talullah Bankhead. ‘It’s Me Again’ by Stacey L. Moor
“This next song we’re going to do for you, is off the first album,” I tell them while finding the keys. It had been so long since I’ve wanted to play this again, couldn’t remember how it started. “I wrote this for someone special in my life and I never got to tell her. This is my open letter to her. This is ‘No Other.’”
I picture her walking out of my life even though she’s right in front of me. Envisioning her leaving me makes the words easier to sing the way they should be sung.
I take a deep breath before I press down on the keys, singing with my eyes closed.
Haven’t been around many since you’ve been gone
Can barely keep my feet mo-ving
Sit arooound, feeling dooooown
Wonder where you aaaare, what you’re dooooing
Jessica comes in slowly with the bass line as Reymo revs up the cymbals.
And if – you’ve been seeing anyone new
Can’t explain it
Kevian starts in G flat and Reymo starts tapping out the beat on the side of his snare. Jessica holds her last note cueing Kevian to do the same. Reymo keeps tapping the beat while no one else plays. Count to three in my head and open my eyes.
We all start playing as speakers get pitchy, cameras flash and the crowd looks like a multicolored ocean the way they wave from side to side.
But no other – can ever fill your space
‘No one com-pares’ Jessica sings into her microphone.
No other – has her things all over my place
‘No one since you’ she sings.
No other – can make me want to break the rules
No other woman, no other woman
Makes me feel the way you used to
Kevian backs me up, playing the notes I sing. Finish the chorus and let them run their solos.
“Jessica, let ‘em know what it feels like.”
She plays the bridge of Prince’s ‘When Doves Cry’ and the ones old enough to know the lyrics start singing while we play. It sounds so good I wonder why I didn’t think about it.
“Yeah, keep telling them! Put your hands together like this,” I say to the crowd, leading the clap. “Alright! Reymo, give ‘em a little something, something.”
He starts like the champion of funk that he is and rolls from our song right into The Roots’ ‘Silent Treatment’ with his eyes closed. Kevian backs him up on the sax and I hope someone out there is taping this. I change keys and hit the notes to fit the song.
I start singing the words at the beginning when some of the people in the crowd start rhyming the words. Finish the first verse, wave my arm and it all stops. Kevian sings with his saxophone and just as planed, he goes from his solo right into the melody of ‘Sideways.’
“Kevian, ladies and gentlemen!”
Reymo pounds the drums and Jessica bobs her head as she gets into the groove of her six notes.
I want to tell you
That I love you
If you were falling
I’d catch you
Hold you
Fall with you
Die with you
If I couldn’t save you
Don’t need no parachute
I have faith
So with this ring
I give you my heart
My soul
And promise we’ll grow old
Togeth-er
The chorus starts and I look up. She’s nowhere to be found.
I love you so much
Some times I have to look at you sideways
Sideways, sideways
Can’t believe you’re really here
Can’t believe you’re really mine
Don’t mean to, but I have to
Smile when I watch you, and turn my head sideways
Sideways, sideways
We finish up the set and all take our bows for the crowd. I introduce my band formally before telling the crowd thank you and this is the intermission.
“Please tip your bartenders and we’ll be back on in ten.”

‘It’s Me Again’ by Stacey L. Moor
“Let’s trade, you love Cherry.”
“You just said it was watered down, why would I trade you?”
“Because you’re a gentleman and during the courting period, gentlemen act gentlemanly.”
“Is that even a word? And who’s Courtney? I don’t know no stinking Courtney,” I say slipping my strawberry and cola combination.
“Cour-ting,” she annunciates. “And yes it is. I bet you some of yours that if we look it up right now, it’ll be there.”
“Fine. Where you looking?”
“Dictionary dot com,” she answers.
She does the search and I turn her phone a little so we both can see what it says when the page loads.
No result found.
“Sucks for you, homie.”
“They must be riddled with traffic since it’s a holiday but I’m telling you it’s a word.”
“Mmhmmm…”
“Quentin Spivey, I know your mother raised you better than that! You should know how to treat a lady.”
“Why are you saying my whole government like the man ain’t watching?” I said looking around. “Besides, yes my momma did teach me how to treat a lady. But I asked the lady did she want to try mine before we paid for them. The lady could have dumped hers out and got what I got but nooooo…”
She eyes me with playful contempt.
“Give me the damn slurpee.”
“Who you talking to? Must be out your mind like I’m going to give you- heeeey!”
She rips the plastic cup from my hand and sits facing me with her back against the door. She guzzles my super duper slurpee mix before shaking her head from side to side with her eyes closed trying to fight away the brain freeze.
“That’s what you get!” She shakes her head a little more before telling me it is good and handing me hers.
“What am I going to do with that?”
“Fine, if you don’t want it,” she says still guzzling my strawberry and cola flavored goodness. That was the only thing keeping me cool since the A/C in the car didn’t work and we weren’t moving so having the windows down didn’t do any good.
Summer takes the watered down cherry and rubs the cup against her forehead. She stops only after she runs the cup along side her face, down her neck and across her thigh.
I’ve never seen a slurpee look so sexy. I was almost envious.
“What?”
“Nothing.”
“You mad? Are you mad, Quentin Spivey?”
“Stop saying my whole name.”
“What do you want me to call you?”
“Daddy.”
She hits me before moving back into her seat and telling me I sure know how to ruin the mood.
“We were in a mood? My bad, I was dehydrated and couldn’t think straight.”
She cuts her eye at me before handing over the ransom.
“Thank ya kindly.”
“Spiv, I want to know something and I want you to tell me the truth.”
Aaaah shit.
“Do you like me?”
“Yeah, you’re real cool and you’re part tomboy and you can cook.”
“No, I mean, do you like me?”
“You mean like, pull your hair and push you down on the playground, give you my momma’s jewelry, like you?”
She laughs, “Yeah.”
“Sure.”
“Suuuuuure,” she says. “How come you never tell me I’m beautiful?”
“What?”
“How come, you never tell me I’m beautiful?”

‘It’s Me Again’ by Stacey L. Moor
It must be national ‘Let’s Make Him Think He’s Crazy Day’ or something. The four girls in the liquor store wandering around and calling out brands to each other look a little too much like-
Nah, just my mind playing tricks on me, couldn’t be little sisters or younger versions…
Walk down the left aisle by the coolers and grab the six pack for my uncle and the one closest to me starts singing one of my songs. Sings it loud as she moves from side to side in front of the tequila section, seemingly paying me no mind. She just holds up a bottle over the shelf and the girl in the next aisle tells her no.
Her soft brown skin dares me to find the pot of gold at the end of her rainbow colored shirt and look at her ripped denim shorts while I pass. She’s singing my song like she’s auditioning. She’s dressed like I should give it to her.
Betcha’ll never fiiiind oooooone better than me
Daisy got pipes and sex appeal, I think as I walk down the aisle to the back. Could bring her out and do a killer duet. She could def-
We could do it biiiiiig on the town or chill and catch a moooooovie
Pretty Brown Brown in the tank top, jeans and heels standing with the cooler door open sounds even better than the girl in front of the tequila. She sings it a little smoother, a little more refined as she draws a heart on the frosted glass door as I pass.
Sip a lil sum-thin, get into a lil sum-thin,
You say it’s alright with me
Damn, Boardwalk got a voice too! Red bikini top with a rhinestone swirl on it leading up to the left strap, jean shorts unbuttoned and rolled down a bit, her flip flops match her ensemble as do the sunglasses on her head. Her ponytail pulled back tight, she holds up a bottle of Boones and I see the vine creeping up her side. Beautiful tattoo I think as I walk by her. Head for the wine rack and shake my head as the music stops. My mind’s playing tricks on me something terrible today.
You could waste your tiiiiime, but I betcha’ll never fiiiind
Ho-Lee Shit is standing behind me in a white swimsuit that has a tear drop cut out for her belly ring to glisten. A purple palm tree is on the right side of the tear, planted firmly by the sarong wrapped around her heart shaped hips. Her flip-flops match the white frames of her sunglasses that hung between her breasts. Her hair, big and curly, is almost as golden as her complexion.
The three other girls are standing by her side staring me down. Four beautiful faces, three shades like the group I was a part of before I was kicked out and forced to be a solo artist, stand in front of me in the middle of a liquor store and sing to me.
A girl group better than Diiiiiime
It takes a minute but I finally get it. They were auditioning, I wasn’t crazy.

She giggles her way to the fridge and I try hard not to look… really hard. It wasn’t my fault that my highlighter fell. I promise.
Ok so I’m lying. This would be the part where the action pauses and you draw on the devilish grin, spiky goatee and the horns. I’m a man, what can I say?
She opens the door and leans back looking into the fridge. Summer taps the tip of her shoe on the floor as well as her hand on the counter and I wonder what song she’s thinking of.
The tiny vibrations led up her leg and made her butt jiggle beneath the black spandex that seemed to be painted on. It was hard to twist back upright in my seat before she turned around. I ruffled the papers in my hand and uncapped my highlighter and made a few lines trying to throw her off.
I could hear her hair rustle against the collar of her sorority wind breaker and I just knew she was shaking her head behind me but I’m not saying anything about it until she does. Even if she asks me, I’ll just deny it. Yup. Sure will.
She says, “Do you have a menu? I didn’t eat all day and I can feel a headache coming on.”
“They’re all in the drawer by the fridge.”
I don’t get up on purpose because I want to watch her. I know it sounds wrong but it’s not. You have to appreciate a woman like her and that includes taking it all in.
“In the mood for anything particular?”
“Cheap.”
“Five-dollar Chinese it is then,” she says putting her butt against the counter, sorting through the choices.
“I want a number six with brown rice and wonton soup. See if they have Dr. Pepper this time.”
She eyes me with disbelief before reading off what it is I wanted. “You want the squid and tofu?”
“Yeah. No, what?”
She laughs as I look at her confused on what menu was she looking at because I wanted the sesame chicken.
“You said the number six right? That’s squid and tofu.”
“No, it’s not.”
“Here, look.”
I shuffle to where she stands and take the menu from her only to be pushed against the counter and have a wedgie invade my comfort zone.
“Kobe is the shit like your doo-doo stains!”
She laughs as she claps her victory loudly in the vacant dorm where salvation came for lost keys. Her smile disarms the menace that would retaliate with actions similar to her own but worse. I step toward her with bad intentions while digging out the intruder. Broad shoulders are pushed back beyond my invisible crown that illuminates underneath a flickering sixty watt bulb.
I’m a king damn it. She’s going to respect me as such.
My slow steps towards her predict that whatever’s going to come won’t be pretty. Her anticipation leads to forgetting her surroundings and falling over the couch. She tosses a high pitched scream while she goes down.
She laughs before I can, popping up and fixing her clothes saying, “Nobody saw that.”
She makes me smile genuinely and my eyes get warm.
She’s gorgeous.
She’s younger than me.
A friend of a few friends, she is off limits.
Because she’s a good girl and I’m allergic to those.
Warnings came from several about the divinity of the deity that dog-eared my magazines for the products she wanted to research in order to emulate for her business project. They said don’t corrupt her, don’t pursue or lust for her, don’t assume that it is love with her.

‘It’s Me Again’ by Stacey L. Moor
By week’s end she phones and tells me that she needs to talk.
I flip my phone closed and prepare for the worst. Move the laundry off of the couch, put it back into the basket and set it on the bedroom floor against the dresser. Move sheet music off the kitchen table and push my keyboard back under the windowsill. She was parking when she called which meant-
DING-DONG
I walk to the door as she presses the bell again. My hand to the knob, I open the door as I pull up my sweats.
She walks passed me.
Sunglasses still on, scarf wrapped tightly underneath her faux fur-lined coat and her heels clicking towards the bathroom. I push the door up and sigh as hard as I can while locking all the locks and even putting the chain on the door this time.
The water is running but not moving.
She’s standing there, looking at her reflection’s dismay. Tight lipped and statuesque, she is the woman of my dreams, in my house, sharing my bed. But she is NOT my woman. NOT my lover. NOT my soul’s end to twenty-seven years of searching and growing for her.
The water is gathering in the sink as it is in the tub.
She doesn’t look down.
She never looks down.
Just keeps her sights too high to see what’s right under her feet. She lives the life of a blinded tightrope walker in shackles, she was bound to fall.
Walks, runs, follows, jumps blindly… she never sees what’s there until there is nothing tangible to break her fall.
And now, she is falling.
Her voice cracks as she tries to sing along with the radio. My back is left of the door frame hardening with every labored breath she takes. Standing outside the bathroom, I look down the hall to the end of it thinking of how to end it all. Started staring at the hinges wondering if they squeaked or not.
Bobbing my head along with the beat, I sing along with her softly. Because ‘I’m so sick of love songs, so tired of tears, so done with wishing, that you were still here’ too.
Take a deep breath and move. Couldn’t be away from her for long these days.
I turn and see her bent over the sink touching her face. Pointer finger, Middle finger, should have my ring on it finger gauge the size of her bruise and if the rouge covered it all.
She sees me in the mirror and tilts her head away from the light.
She tries to smile it away.
Tries to cover her pain with what she knows will however, it usually hurts her worse when she smiles. He said she talked too much. Said she had a smart mouth. Said he was a man and to respect him as such. Put his hands on a female like she was an effin’ dude…
Smiling hurts her.
As does the bruise on her heart.
The one that I can see that makeup can’t cover.
Like the bruise on her cheek, the fingerprints on her arm, the marks on her neck.
She doesn’t have to explain.
I can feel what she’s thinking.
I had to do something.
