The world has yet to see the best of Nicki Minaj. What she’s delivering to the world now is basically what they want. But I know that she’s a super talented superstar who can do anything at a high level—rap, sing, act, whatever she wants to do. This is just the beginning of Nicki Minaj. Her best is yet to come. In my opinion she is as talented as my other girl Lauryn Hill. They have completely different styles. But as far as the talent is concerned they both can do it all. Video chick, Gloria Velez, has already called Nicki Minaj a ‘gimmick’ and she’s speaking out again. She did an interview with Major Moves DVD and said that Nicki is faking her bisexuality.

She said, “I think she should be her. It’s okay to be a little costume-ish on stage but let people see who you really are. You’re trying to be like Lady Gaga a little bit. You’re trying to pretend that you like women but you really d*ck. Just be you….I honestly don’t like her music but to each his own. She sounds like she has tourette’s….I’m from the era of Fox and Kim. So when I hear that…to me it’s just noise.”

Nicki wasn’t the only victim of Gloria’s rant, she got at Remy Ma as well saying, “She [Remy Ma] told Funk Flex she didn’t like me. I mean come on how do you just not like somebody and want to fight them? Alright then we can do it, let’s pop it off, alright b*tch.  A lot of the females wouldn’t say anything to her but ‘ll be damed if I’ll be afraid of anybody.” Source

Nicki Denies Lip Syncing

Nicki Minaj is getting a lot of flack for engaging in what looks like lip syncing for all of her performances at the 2010 BET Awards this past weekend.  But she denies it and blames it on technical difficulties.

She tweeted: “U (sic) could hear me in the auditorium but apparently not in TV land. Shout out to the sound guy.”

She adds, “They say it’ll (be) fixed wen (sic) it re-airs.” Source

Um, I’d buy it if everyone looked like they lip synced…but no, only you Nickster.

Drake says that he’s had a crush on fellow Young Money label mate, Nicki Minaj since he first met her.

He said, “When I was on tour … I saw Nicki for the first time and, like, literally fell in love. She had this snap-back hat on that said ‘Minaj.’ She used to wear that every single day. She was like a theater student and she was so cold at rapping…I remember one of the first nights that we were out in Miami and I went to Jerry’s [Famous Deli]. I was like [to Minaj], ‘You want food, you hungry?,’ and she was like, ‘Yeah, I want some food.’ I was like, ‘I’m in, we gon’ eat food together.’ I came to her door and she took the food and shut the door in my face! I was just like, ‘Man, this is gonna be a long road for us.’ … I’ve always really, actually, really had a crush on her, always really loved her, and she’s always just looked at me as, like, her little brother.”

Here’s what Nicki had to say about Drake’s ‘crush’:

Nicki’s in Hot Water Over Rented Lambo

Nicki Minaj is going to court over the Lambo she rented for her ‘Massive Attack’ video.  The rental company, Hollywood Exotic Car Rental is suing her for almost $18,000 in rental fees and damages.

The car was reportedly driven “off-road” and damaged  “in the approximate amount of $11,589.41.” Plus, they says she didn’t pay three days of the $1,750/day rent – that’s another $5,250. Source

He says: I want to say I love Lil Kim man and I’m sorry that she’s mad. I never would have thought by me working with another artist that she would take it the wrong way but if she’s taking it the wrong way, it ain’t meant like that. Nicki has never did anything to her. She ain’t never not pay her homage. She ain’t swagger jack and say nothing negative about her. I think Kim needs to understand that Nicki as a whole, it’s always been respect. Nicki isn’t trying to be her. We still riding with Nicki and we still riding with Kim. We love and respect the days in history that we’ve had with Lil Kim but Kim is going to be an emcee. When emcees come back out, they talk crazy and do what they do but at the end of the day everyone respects Kim for being the Queen B… Anybody that comes after Kim, or me, or Jay or whatever, people get inspired. It’s nothing wrong with her being inspired as long as she takes that inspiration and carves out her own lane. If we do ever manage her, we’ll make sure she carves out that own lane. Source

She said: “All females that come in the game, we need to stick together but what happens is when you come in the game and realize that I’m not going away and my fans are still here and that they can’t just step over me. Then they kind of like get upset and they don’t want to be my friend anymore. I think that that’s really childish, you know. All I ask for is respect and I show you the same respect and that you pay homeage at the end of the day. A lot of things go on behind the scenes that a lot of people don’t know about and it will be aired out because you can’t hide the truth…” Source

So Nicki Minaj apparently has a sex tape out there somewhere. MediaTakeOut.com (whom I hate to source) says that they were approached by someone who says they have a tape of ‘young Nicki Minaj’ or ‘someone that looks like her’ doing all types of nasty stuff.

The source wants $100K for the full video. MediaTakeOut didn’t bite but plan to post the clip as soon as they iron out a deal. Source

Who cares if Nicki has a tape out? It’s not like she’s the Queen of England. I’m not saying folks wouldn’t watch. I’m just saying it’s not a big shocker.

Video chick, Gloria Velez, has decided to strike out against Nicki Minaj by calling her a ‘good gimmick.’

Peep what she had to say:

“There’s only one right now that’s making any noise. Yea, Nicki Minaj,” Velez said when asked about female rapper’s in the game. “You can’t say who’s hot because she’s the only one out. She’s just there.

“She’s a good gimmick, like she has the right team behind her. That’s it, because if anybody else put her out or she was by herself, it would not pop off at all … no matter how much plastic surgery or no matter how much injections in the butt. It’s not gonna happen. It’s a gimmick,” she said.

“Nah, I don’t like her music. Sorry. I can’t front. I like [Foxy Brown], I like Eve, I liked [Lil] Kim’s first album. I think it’s a gimmick. I don’t think it’s real rap. Her lyrics are garbage, to me. It’s cute and catchy, but … it’s not hot to me. Some of it don’t even make sense.

“She can’t dance, she’s batting her eyes. What is that? Like the whole time onstage? That’s not a performance mama. … I don’t believe she has the whole package. That’s my opinion.” Source

Not that I like Nicki, since Gloria is failing at a rap career herself, this just sounds like major shade.

Nicki Minaj Talks About Being a Role Model

Nicki Minaj recently opened up about being a role model as well as being openly bisexual.

Q: What can women get away with in hip-hop that men can’t?

A: I have a lot of freedom to be crazy. I can rap in a London accent, make weird faces, wear spandex, wigs, and black lipstick. I can be more creative than the average male rapper. And I can show my boobs. Guys can’t do that.

Q: You sign your fans’ breasts at shows. Do their boyfriends get jealous?

A: If anything, boys are telling me to sign their girls’ boobs. I’ve gone through 15 markers in a single night—because the girls are usually sweating, and a marker will stop writing if the girls are wet.

Q: As an openly bisexual rapper, do you think hip-hop is getting more gay-friendly?

A: I think the world is getting more gay-friendly, so hip-hop is too. But it’s harder to imagine an openly gay male rapper being embraced. People view gay men as having no street credibility. But I think we’ll see one in my lifetime.

Q: Your father set fire to your home when you were a kid in Queens, New York. What happened?

A: He drank a lot and did drugs, and he would get violent when he did. When he set fire to the house, he was attempting to kill my mother. She got out before it burned all the way down. I’ve always had this female-empowerment thing in the back of my mind—because I wanted my mother to be stronger, and she couldn’t be. I thought, “If I’m successful, I can change her life.”

Q: As younger and younger fans come to your shows, do you feel pressure to tone down the racier elements of your persona?

A: I do. I’m a role model now. I didn’t know I was gonna have 13-year-old fans, so I’ve tried to change a few things here and there. But I also know that the girls don’t want me to be Miley Cyrus, either. Source

Nicki Minaj Fires Manager

Rumor has it that Nicki Minaj has fired her manager, Deb Antney, and hired Diddy. Here’s what an source said, “I know for a FACT that she was fired because the stupid b–ch neglected to get Nicki Minaj an international work permit (you need those to perform outside of the US) and they take a long time to obtain. Well, Nicki cant work outside the US on the tour, so therefore she couldn’t go..boo hoo. The manager neglected to tie some loose ends in regards to that. Now, i am the managers associate (friend) so i know this for sure. it was an honest mistake. Deb dont know s–t about managing an international act.

Deb confirmed she’s no longer Nicki’s manager saying, “I received a letter, which was (a) suspension. The next letter that came in was a cease and desist in doing all business with Nicki Minaj from Nicki’s attorney. I love Nicki. I wish her the most success. It’s not about the music, she’s like one of my children… I wish her no harm, only much success.”Source

EVE answered weather or not she is intimidated by Nicki Minaj’s recent success.

She said, “Trust me, no one’s competition for me and that sounds cocky but I seriously live in such an Eve world. And not in a crazy-everything-is-me-bubble, it’s just that I’m building an empire.  I go on Twitter and people say ‘Yo, knock Nicki Minaj out of the box, but ultimately we’re all helping each other and I’m happy seeing these chicks in the game. It’s too much testosterone. When I see another female, my immediate reaction is not ‘Oh I gotta go and get my shit right.’ I got 900 other things going on. I can’t keep worrying about what’s coming up behind me.”

Rihanna admits that she feels ugly for a whole week each month.

She said: “I have an ugly day every month; pimples on my face, I’m fat and in a bad mood. It’s more like an ugly week!”

Nicki Minaj Signs with Young Money

Rapper Nicki Minaj has joined the Young Money family.

“I am honored to have Nicki Minaj as Young Money’s First Lady. She is a star,” Lil Wayne, Young Money label head, said in a statement.

“To say I’m excited would be an understatement. It’s validation. It’s proof. It’s empowerment,” Nicki said of the signing. “I represent every little girl in a hood near you. To everyone that supported me two years ago when I was on underground mixtapes and DVDs and to the people that only caught on two weeks ago, I say thank you. Be proud of yourself. You’ve given girls all around the world the permission to change the face of female rap.”

Several labels had been bidding for Nicki and Young Money won out.  Nicki joins Drake and Bow Wow as the newest artists on the label. Source

I’m not a real hip hop head.  Ergo, my opinion doesn’t count.  So I’ll keep it to myself.  But what do you guys think of Nicki…does she live up to the hype?
