New Music: Manhattan-”Live From the Glitter Dome (REVIEW)

The opening track, ‘The Glitter Dome,’ introduces Manhattan as an artist who’s “frozen thoughts get broken…split up into different pictures,” i.e. the glitter in his dome. He cautions later in the song ‘your gonna gravitate to this ultra magnetic rappin / but be for-warned what your in for is not your average anticks.’ Gravitate indeed. I just got my hands on this and listened to it four times in a row. I haven’t been this excited about new music in a while.
But that’s enough about me. As you advance through the album, Manhattan talks about everything from the dark path our youth are taking in ‘Anywhere Else But Here’ to just trying to hit it and quit it in ‘Pathetic.’ In the latter he rhymes “my dick is Jackie Gleason/Honeymoon sex,”…priceless.
Artist/producer team Manhattan and M.I.K.E. SEE dub this fusion of organic/synth sound, Hip-Hop rhythm and free flowing melody, “Dough Boy Sound.”
Lo is dubbing ‘Live From the Glitter Dome’ an Intergalactic Alternative Rap Opera.
I’m giving it 5 out of 5 shots of Incredible Hulk.
