Music Review: Harry Styles-Harry Styles

I love that Harry Styles could have given us a one man One Direction album k with a million features from his famous friends, and he didn’t.

This album is more rock than pop, which is also unexpected. And he even serves up a little Bowie glam on a few of the songs. This is evidenced in one of my faves from the album, “Sign of the Times.”

Then there are a few tracks that have a rustier sound, like “Carolina” which sounds like it should be performed in a roadside bar.

Harry also gets a little dirty in “Kiwi” and “Only Angel.” But he’s never so dirty to make you think he’s not writing from experience.

I was expecting to hate this album.  And I’m glad Harry proved me wrong.  I think he’ll do just fine on his own.

Must Listens: “Sign of the Times,” “Kiwi” & “Olivia:

Score: 4 out of 5
