Michael Sam Reality Show is a No Go

We previously reported that Oprah’s OWN had picked up a reality series featuring Michael Sam of the St. Louis Rams.  Michael first came to light when he opened up about his sexuality, making him the first openly gay football player.

Well apparently The Rams weren’t too thrilled about the project and after meetings with OWN the reality show has been postponed indefinitely.

The president of OWN released the following statement,

“After careful consideration and discussion with the St. Louis Rams, “The Untitled Michael Sam Project” has been postponed, allowing Michael the best opportunity to achieve his dream of making the team.” Source

Michael is already ‘special’ and will be highly scrutinized.  I’m sure that a reality show would only increase the hype surrounding him.  And the organization wouldn’t want to increase any additional tension between him and his teammates. AT least, that’s why I’m thinking they did this.
